`The first protest against a new bid by Tamboran to explore for shale gas in the Lough Allen basin takes place this Saturday.
Tamboran Resources has this week applied for a licence to evaluate the natural gas in the shale and sandstone rocks in the southwest of Fermanagh. Environmental groups say that any drilling in the area will adversely effect surface and ground water courses throughout the region, especially as the technology has advanced to include horizontal drills.
The Good Energies Alliance, the Green Party and Love Leitrim will travel to Belcoo to join with groups from Fermanagh and Northern Ireland in a demonstration at 1pm.
Aedín McLoughlin, Director of the Good Energies Alliance says this application is for more intensive drilling than before.
